Sarah Florence was born in 1863, probably in Jones County, based on the census records for the family. Her father, John Smith, died when she was 9 years old. She probably lived with her mother, Caroline, in Jones County until she married Eddie Greene, at the age of 25.  They had 6 children together (2 boys and 4 girls).

Eddie and Sarah lived in Jones County with 4 of their children, moving to Hancock County before 1900. He husband died 15 years later, leaving her with 2 children at home.

She passed away at the age of 61, 10 years after her husband. She was either visiting or living with her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and J.W. Floyd, in South Carolina when she passed away.
