Services for Julian E. Ivey, 59, who died Monday, will be
held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday in the First Methodist Church with burial in the
West View Cemetery.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Maude Twilley Ivey of
Milledgeville; two sons, of Tallahassee and Orlando, Fla.; his mother, Mrs.
O.E. Ivey, Sr. of Milledgeville; six brothers, Malcolm Ivey, William A. Ivey,
James R. Ivey, Robert L. Ivey and O.E. Ivey, Jr. all of Milledgeville, and
Joseph W. Ivey of Bonaire; and five sisters, Mrs. Edna Harris, Mrs. Drucilla
Weaver, Mrs. Jake Cofield and Mrs. Payton Towns, all of Milledgeville, and Mary
Henry of Dublin.
Moore’s Funeral Home of Milledgeville is in charge.
Mrs. Maude Twilley Ivey, 67, died Sunday in a local
hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Milledgeville First
United Methodist Church. Burial will be in West View Cemetery. The Rev. William
Kirby will officiate.
Mrs. Ivey, a native of Warren County, had lived in
Milledgeville for many years. She was a retired nurse with the Baldwin County
Public Health Service and a member of the Milledgeville First United Methodist
Church.
Survivors include two sons, of Milledgeville and Jesup; a
brother, John B. Twilley of Conyers; three sisters, Mrs. J.R. Hillsman of White
Plains, Mrs. R.H. Kelly of Milledgeville and Mrs. Clarence W. Collins of Macon;
six grandchildren.
The family requests that donations be made to the American
Cancer Society or to the Milledgeville First United Methodist Church.

Edna Mae Ivey Harris, 92, died Thursday, February 24, 2005.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Hardwick Christian Church with Rev.
Mark Fessler and Rev. Jim Nipper officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill
Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris was a native and resident of Baldwin County. She
was formerly employed with Central State Hospital and was an avid gardener. She
was preceded in death by her parents Osmer E. and Carrie Green Ivey, her
husband James Wesley Harris, and a grandson Frank Brown. She was a member of
Hardwick Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters of Warner Robins and of
Chilhowie, VA; four sisters, Drucilla Weaver. Mrs. Tanner, Mrs. Payton Towns
all of Milledgeville, and Mary Henry of Eatonton; two grandchildren of Warner
Robins, one grandson of Atlanta, one granddaughter of Abington, VA and a
grandson of Franklin, KY.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday

BLACKWELL DIES FROM INJURIES
MONTICELLO YOUNG MAN VICTIM OF AUTO-TRAIN ACCIDENT NEAR
EATONTON SUNDAY MORNING
A veil of sorrow was cast over Monticello and vicinity
Sunday morning when the news was received that Frank Blackwell, one of
Monticello's splendid young men, had been fatally injured in a automobile-train
accident near Eatonton. The wreck
occurred at a railway crossing a few miles west of the city about eight or nine
o'clock in the morning, so it is understood.
Mr. Blackwell and his wife and infant daughter were on their
way to Milledgeville to spend the day with relatives. Only a few of his friends here knew that he
and his family were out of town until the shocking information reached here
that a terrible accident had befallen them.
This newspaper is not in possession of the full details of
the wreck. It was just one of those
unfortunate accidents which occur occasionally, and which will not be prevented
until all railroads............ (note: the

James Wesley Harris, 83, died Thursday, September 21, 2000,
in a Warner Robins hospital.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Hardwick
Christian Church, with the Rev. Mark Fessler and the Rev. Jim Nipper
officiating. Burial will be in Memory Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Harris, a native of Little Rock, Ark., made his home in
Milledgeville for many years. He retired as supervisor of central kitchen with
Central State Hospital, with 34 years of service. He was a member of Hardwick
Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Mae Ivey Harris of
Milledgeville; two daughters of Warner Robbins and of Chilhowie, Va.; two
brothers, Walter Harris and George Harris both of Milledgeville; three sisters,
Lucille Dyal of McRae, Frances Lunsford of Covington and Anne Andrews of
Sparta; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
Hardwick Christian Church.
The family will be at Moore’s Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30
p.m. Saturday.
Services for Malcolm Eugene Ivey Sr. will be at 3:30 p.m.
Sunday in Moore’s Funeral Home with Burial in Baldwin Memorial Gardens. Mr.
Ivey, 83, died Thursday, July 2, 1998. Born in Milledgeville, he was a retired
youth development center employee. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle Ivey; one son of Gordon,
Malcolm Ivey, Jr. of Warner Robins and a son of Ozark, Alabama; brothers and
sisters, James Ivey, O.E. Ivey, Robert Ivey, Edna Harris, Drucilla Weaver, Mrs.
Tanner and Mrs. Payton Towns, all of Milledgeville, and Mary Henry of Eatonton;
seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Estelle Knowles Ivey age 97 passed away Tuesday, January 5,
2016. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, at the chapel of
Moore’s Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Pickard officiating. Burial will follow at
Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Ivey was a native Putnam County but had made her home
in Milledgeville. She worked at Allen’s Invalid Home, A&P Grocery Store,
J.P. Stevens and Belk. She was preceded in death by her father and mother
George and Lelia Favors Knowles, her husband Malcom Eugene Ivey and a son
Malcom Eugene Ivey, Jr. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the
CIA Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two sons of Milledgeville, 7
grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 until

Funeral services for Mr. William Allison "Bill"
Ivey Sr., 66, will be held October 8, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams
Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Bob Walk and the Rev. Luke Moncrief will officiate.
Burial will take place in West View Cemetery. NOTE! Mr. William Ivey's remains
were transferred to Heritage Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ivey died October 6 in an Atlanta hospital. He was a
lifelong resident of Baldwin County, a veteran of World War II, and was owner
and operator of Ivey Electric Welding Service. He was a member of the American
Legion, the Oconee River Buskers Square Dance Club, and the Georgia State
Square Dancers Association. He was also a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Juanita Prosser Ivey of
Milledgeville; one son, five sisters, Mrs. Mary Henry of Dublin; Mrs. Edna
Harris, Mrs. Drucilla Weaver, Mrs. Payton Towns and Mrs. Jake Cofield, all of
Milledgeville; five brothers, Mr. Joe Ivey of Bonaire, Mr. M. E. Ivey, Sr., Mr.

Mrs. Mary "Juanita" Prosser Ivey, age 91, passed
away Thursday, December 4, 2014. Interment will be in Heritage Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ivey was a native of Washington County and lived in
Baldwin County most of her life. She was retired Secretary of Maintenance at
McGaw Lab. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Allison
"Bill" Ivey, Sr.; parents, Junnie and Ora Mae Cox Prosser; sisters,
Emma Golden and Katherine (Ryan) Veerkamp; and brother, Buford Prosser. She was
a member of the Eastern Star and of Northridge Christian Church.
She is survived by a son; grandchildren, of Anniston, AL and
of Kansas; 3 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also
survive.
James R. "Tiny" Ivey, 83, died Saturday, March 20,
2004, in a Macon hospital due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Ivey, a lifelong resident of Baldwin County, was an U.S.
Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was retired as co-owner of
Gingerbread House Kindergarten and a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Ivey
was preceded in death by his parents Osmer Elrod and Carrie Green Ivey; six
brothers O. E. Ivey, Jr., Julian Ivey, Bill Ivey, Joe Ivey, Mack Ivey and
Robert Ivey; and a sister, Roberta Ivey.
Survivors include his wife Edith Ivey of Milledgeville; a
daughter, of Sandersville; a son of Milledgeville; five sisters, Drucilla
Weaver, Mrs. Payton Towns and Mrs. Tanner, all of Milledgeville, Edna Harris of
Warner Robins and Mary Henry of Eatonton; three granddaughters; and five
sisters-in-law, Estelle Ivey, Mrs. Robert Ivey, Juanita Ivey and Annelle Ivey
all of Milledgeville, and Ruby Ivey of Bonaire.
Mrs. Ivey was a native of Pennsylvania, she had made her
home in Milledgeville for most of her life. She was the widow of the late James
R. "Tiny" Ivey, she was retired Teacher and Director of the
Gingerbread House, she was a member of the Milledgeville Garden Club, The First
Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her daughter; her son; 3 granddaughters;
and 6 great-grandchildren.
Mary Evelyn Ivey Henry Brooks, age 95, passed away
Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Services
will be held at 2PM Saturday, November 19, at the chapel of Moore’s Funeral
Home with Dr. Jerry Pickard officiating.
Burial will be private at Westview Cemetery.
Mrs. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Osmer and
Carrie Greene Ivey, her husbands, Lawrence LeVon Henry, Sr. and Nat Brooks, 7
brothers and 3 sisters. She retired from
J.P. Stevens Company with over 35 years of service and was a member of Northside
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her 3 children, sisters, Mrs. Payton Towns
of Milledgeville and Mrs. Tanner of Gordon, her sister-in-laws, Ruby Ivey of
Bonaire and Mrs. Robert Ivey of Milledgeville, 11 grandchildren, 16 great

Julian Nathaniel Brooks, 91, went to be with his Heavenly
Father on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM on
Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Avondale Baptist Church with the Reverend Marty
Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Avondale Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Brooks was born in Gordon, Georgia and lived in Bibb
County for more than 65 years. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Brooks was a
pilot in the Army Air Corps and Air Force Reserves. He retired from the
reserves as a Lt. Colonel. He graduated Suma Cum Laude from Mercer University
with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance. Mr. Brooks was the owner-operator of J.N.
Brooks Surplus in Bibb County. He was a member of Avondale Baptist Church where
he was a Sunday School teacher, former Deacon, Chairman of the Board of
Deacons, and Chairman of the Finance Committee. He organized and was President
of the Wilkinson County Landowners Association. He was one of the founders of
Windsor Academy. Mr. Brooks was predeceased by his first wife, Rilla Brooks and
son, Gary Brooks.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Henry Brooks;
3 children; 8 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Services for O. E. Ivey Jr., age 80, who died Saturday, May
31, will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2003 in Williams Funeral Home Chapel
with burial in Memory Hill Cemetery, Milledgeville, Rev. Jim Nipper and Rev.
Mark Fessier officiating. (O. E. Ivey was reinterred in Heritage Memorial Park
Cemetery) Mr. Ivey was a lifelong resident of Baldwin County. The son of the
late Osmer E. Ivey, Sr. and the late Carrie Green Ivey, he was a retired owner
of Ivey Tire Service after 20 years. He also had worked at Central State
Hospital for 13 years and had farmed for many years. Mr. Ivey was a member of
Hardwick Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Annelle Benson Ivey of
Milledgeville; 4 children; sisters, Edna Harris of Warner Robbins, Mary Henry,

Mrs. Ivey was a native of Gwinnett County, lived in Baldwin
County for her life, daughter of the late Byrd Clifton Benson and the late
Letha Augusta Bagwell Benson. She was retired from McGaw Laboratories and a
member of Hardwick Christian Church. Mrs. Ivey was the widow of the late O.E.
Ivey, Jr, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Ann Ivey; a brother,
Myron Benson; and a sister Delores Breedlove Tribble.
Survivors include 4 children.
Mrs. Weaver passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, she was a
lifelong resident of Baldwin County, the wife of the late James Wilson Weaver
and the daughter of the late Osmer Elrod and Carrie Green Ivey. Mrs. Weaver had
retired from JP Stevens, was an Avon Representative for a number of years and
Co-Owned Weavers 66 with her husband. She was a member of the Iris Club and
Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her 3 children; 5 grandchildren; Sisters,
Mrs. Payton Towns, Mary Henry both of Milledgeville and Mrs. Tanner of
Eatonton.
Joseph W. Ivey, 70, of Bonaire, died Saturday, May 16, 1998.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 am in the Chapel of Heritage
Memorial Funeral Home. Bros. Jimmy Harrell, Eugene Ivey, and Michael Sanders
will officiate. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Baldwin Memorial Gardens in
Milledgeville.
Mr. Ivey, a native of Baldwin County, was the son of the
late Osmer Elrod and Carrie Green Ivey. He was a member of the Shalom Christian
Fellowship in Macon and was retired from Robins Air Force Base.

Mrs. Ivey was born in Telfair County, but had made her home
in Bonaire and Milledgeville. She worked as a secretary for Dr. E.P. Gosline
Chiropractic from the age of nineteen until she turned seventy. Mrs. Ivey was a
member of Shalom Tabernacle of Warner Robins. She was preceded in death by her parents
Arthur Jackson Towns and Lucy Spires Towns, her husband, Joseph Whitfield Ivey,
her siblings, Annie Swilley, Vettie Billue, Bessie Proctor, Lucile Gibson,
Pauline Garrison, Lorene Bailey, James Towns, and Payton Towns, Sr. She spent
most of her time taking care of her sisters and her family.
Survivors include her daughter of Macon, 2 sisters, 3
sister-in laws, Mrs. Tanner, Mrs. Payton Towns, and Mrs. Robert Ivey; and two
grandchildren.
